Back To Training After A Short Layoff

I’ve had just under two weeks off due to a sore elbow (still sore, but better) and a cold, plus my son’s been ill so we’ve all slept badly
The good news is we’re better so I returned to training again today. After a deload here’s what I did:
Squat: 100kg 3×5
Bench Press: 70kg 3×5

Squat Deload, Good Benching

After last Friday’s terrible workout I decided to do a big deload on Squats. I’m also thinking of changing my routine, perhaps three heavy squat sessions per week is just too much at the weight I’m now lifting.
Today’s workout:
Squats: Warmup to 1×5 at 100kg, no working sets today as I’m doing a deload.

A terrible workout today. I really didn’t fancy heading out to the gym as I felt absolutely worn out. I seriously considered taking the day off, but didn’t.
Today’s workout:
Squat: 120kg for 5,2. Bailed out of the third rep of the second set as I just wasn’t coming up out of the hole.

5 Mile Slow Run

Woke up with a terrible back ache this morning due to a bad nights sleep. Felt absolutely knackered too after a late night entertaining the wife’s friends. Can’t let that stop a workout though so today it was:

After a rubbish weekend – a sore knee stopped me doing my long run – I was pleased to hit another personal best on squats today. Following squats I continued to ramp back up on the overhead press and deadlift following the recent deload.

2 Mile Fast Run

Today’s training consisted of fast(ish) run around a course that’s roughly 2.3 miles long. I set a new personal best around the course of 21:20.
I’m quite enjoying working on short, fast runs at the moment as I’m keen to improve my overall pace.
